Venezuelan National Charged with Murder

A Venezuelan gold miner has been charged with the murder of a compatriot following an investigation into a recent killing at Quartzstone Backdam, Cuyuni River.
The accused, 25-year-old Jose Manuel Garvajal, was arrested on October 18, 2025.
He was formally charged today, with the murder of 35-year-old Yosber Alberto Rivero Sojo, also a Venezuelan gold miner.
Garvajal appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court, where the indictable charge was read to him.
He was not required to enter a plea and has been remanded to prison.
The matter has been adjourned to December 5, 2025.
