Firearms, Burnt Bones Discovered in “Skinny” Investigation

January 22 2025
A grim and unsettling discovery has intensified the Guyana Police Force’s investigation into the death of wanted man Jamal Bourne, also known as “Skinny,” after suspected burnt human remains, firearms, ammunition and other items were uncovered during a major operation in Linden.
Police confirmed that the findings were made on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, during sustained operations at Three Miles, Wisroc Housing Scheme, Wismar.
The exercise forms part of the ongoing probe into Bourne’s death and follows the circulation of a disturbing video on social media linked to the case.
A team of Crime Scene investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department, supported by canine units, combed the area.
During the search, ranks examined a burnt section of land where they discovered what investigators believe to be burnt human remains, including ashes and bone fragments.
The items were carefully secured and are expected to undergo forensic examination to determine their origin and identity.

The operation widened to a nearby wooden structure, where police uncovered a cache of items believed to be linked to criminal activity.
Among the discoveries were a suspected pistol fitted with an empty magazine, three shotgun cartridges, a suspected spent 9mm shell, knives, clothing and other materials of interest.
In nearby vegetation, ranks also found three toy rifles, further adding to the mystery surrounding the scene.
All exhibits recovered during the operation have been lodged, and the suspected human remains are to be examined by a Government Pathologist as investigators work to piece together the events leading up to Bourne’s death.
Police confirmed that six persons, two females and four males, who were earlier arrested in connection with the matter remain in custody and are continuing to assist with the investigation.
Bourne was a wanted man in relation to the murder of Akeem Hamer, which occurred at Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, on September 12, 2024.
A video that circulated widely on social media shows Bourne inflicting a suspected gunshot wound to himself during a Facebook Live broadcast on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
During the livestream, Bourne was reportedly in the company of other individuals and was seen allegedly displaying what appeared to be several firearms.
The video has since been removed from the social media platform on which it was originally posted, but police say it remains a critical part of their investigation.
The Guyana Police Force has assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that further details will be released as the probe continues to unfold.
