Hinterland housing plan unveiled during Region One outreach

August 5 2026
Minister of Housing Collin Croal joined President Dr. Irfaan Ali and members of Cabinet in Moruca, Region One, as the Government continued its outreach to hinterland communities.
During the engagement, Croal handed over a garbage truck to the Moruca Village Council to strengthen waste management services and improve sanitation in the community.
Residents also accessed a range of government services and interacted with officials on matters relating to housing, water, agriculture, forestry, education, transportation, civil aviation and regional administration.
President Ali also outlined the Government’s hinterland housing initiative, which is expected to provide homes for single parents, elderly persons and persons with special needs in hinterland communities.
The Moruca engagement forms part of the Government’s ongoing Cabinet outreach programme aimed at bringing services and senior officials directly to residents while addressing community concerns and development priorities.
