Min Walrond engages Region One residents during cabinet outreach

August 5 2026
Minister of Home Affairs Oneidge Walrond is in Region One as part of President Dr. Irfaan Ali’s Cabinet Outreach to the region, engaging residents on issues affecting their communities.
Walrond, accompanied by Permanent Secretary Andre Ally and Director General of the Ministry of Public Utilities and Aviation Alfonso De Armas, began the outreach in Powaikuru, where she met with residents at the Powaikuru Church.
The engagement provided residents with an opportunity to raise concerns directly with government representatives and discuss matters affecting the community.
The team is scheduled to continue its outreach at the Lower Kaituma Primary School from 1:30 p.m., where residents are expected to bring forward additional concerns and development priorities.
The engagements form part of President Ali’s ongoing efforts to bring Cabinet members directly into communities across Guyana, particularly remote and hinterland areas, to hear residents’ concerns and work towards addressing issues raised.
