AK assault rifle found hidden in Sophia drain

Police are investigating the discovery of an AK assault rifle and two magazines at ‘C’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, on Wednesday morning.
The firearm was found around 2:30 a.m. after police ranks, acting on information received, searched an empty plot of land in the area.
According to a statement issued by the GPF, during the search, ranks found a bag hidden in a dry drain containing an AK assault rifle with its serial number filed off, along with two AK magazines.
No ammunition was found.
The firearm and magazines were taken into police custody and lodged at the Turkeyen Police Station as investigations continue.
No arrests have been made so far.
