AGRI Min Provides Fencing Materials to Ithaca Farmers

Yesterday, Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha delivered a supply of barbed wire and Wallaba posts to members of the Ithaca Farmers and Livestock Group.

The materials were provided to help the farmers improve their production by securing their farmlands.

This assistance comes after the group met with President Irfaan Ali, requesting support to fence their lands as roaming cattle have been causing damage to their crops.

Michella Benjamin, a member of the farmers’ group, expressed her gratitude, saying the materials would enable them to fence over sixty acres of farmland, benefiting about fifteen cash crop farmers within the group.

Minister Mustapha acknowledged the ongoing conflict between cash crop, rice, and cattle farmers but assured that the government is committed to providing the necessary support to sustain and develop all agricultural sectors.
