Three arrested for viral assault on teenager

Police are investigating an alleged assault involving a 16-year-old male student that occurred on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at De Willem, West Coast Demerara.
According to preliminary enquiries, the teenager was earlier that day attacked by several male individuals who reportedly slapped him repeatedly about the face and lashed his body with a cutlass and a rope.
Following investigations, three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.
Those in custody include two juveniles, aged 16 and 15, and a 19-year-old male. All three are residents of Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara, and are currently assisting police with the investigation.
Police have indicated that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
