Teen charged over fatal East Coast crash

An 18-year-old student has been charged with causing the death of his passenger in a fatal road accident on the East Coast of Demerara.

Eric Pross was charged today in connection with the death of 18-year-old Zahair Khan, who died following a vehicle accident on Saturday, August 15, at Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara.
Pross appeared on Thursday, August 20, before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where he was granted $600,000 bail. He was ordered to surrender his passport and report to the Sparendaam Police Station every Monday. The matter was adjourned to October 2, 2026.
Pross was reportedly driving with Khan along the Vlissengen Public Road at night when the vehicle overturned.
Khan, an employee of Unitech Solutions, was transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Pross was also taken for medical attention and treated for minor injuries.
