Sophia youth awarded Football scholarship to Jamaica.

As opportunities continue to present itself for young men to play and study in a sport centric environment, Guyanese youngsters continue to be favored in this regard.
A perfect example of this is 17-year-old Seon Cato. Who has been offered a chance to play for the St. Jago High School in Spanish Town Jamaica, this week, not just to play, but to also further his studies at the CAPE Levels.

The Jamaican education system prides itself on focusing on education over sports.
Cato is currently a student at Chase’s Academic Foundation and is easily one of their most outstanding athletes, having performed admirably at the recently concluded Milo under-18 Football competitions, which saw the school finishing 2nd behind eventual winner Santa rosa.
Director of Chase Academic Foundation made it clear that the youngster will finish his CSEC here in Guyana and welcomed the opportunity presented to the young athlete to further his studies abroad, noting that this will further develop his craft in a manner that he can go on to play professionally.
In an invited comment, a representative for St. Jago High School noted that the institution is optimistic about having Cato apart of the team, having learnt of his rapid growth, they believe his explosive play and leadership qualities will be beneficial to their ranks.

Cato told the BIG Smith News Watch that he was ecstatic about the opportunity presented and cannot wait to be a part of the project as he believes that it will assist in furthering his growth in a much more stable and organised environment.
The young man who hails from Sophia, has expressed his joy at the opportunity to make his family and community proud, committing to working towards building a career and reaching peak potential.
The athlete noted that the opportunity does not just end at CAPE or The Manning Cup but also, they can be offered scholarships to play abroad and earn a living a professional arena.
Recently 18-year-old JaleeI Alcindor went abroad and joined Brandon Solomon and Marcus Tudor who are all plying their trade in Jamaica at the school and Pro League level.
Seon Cato is schedule to travel this coming June to be apart of the Schools Training Camp where he will be afforded the opportunity to train and understand his role in soon to be his new footballing home and system.
