Man wanted for Lt. Douglas’ murder nabbed in Sophia

Police have nabbed one of the men who is wanted for the murder of army Lieutenant Rondel Douglas, who was gunned down at the hands of carjackers.
A senior police official told Big Smith News Watch that the man, identified as Joshua Parris, was held today, June 13, in Sophia.
Police had issued wanted bulletins for Jamie Ghanie and another individual, known only as ‘Howard,’ in connection with the slaying.
‘Howard’ is believed to be the now-detained Joshua Parris.
Sources familiar with ‘Howard’ says he resides in Sophia and is known to law enforcement ranks.
Police have been working to enhance CCTV footage, taken from a security camera in Cul-de-Sac Street, North Ruimveldt, of the individuals attacking and killing Douglas.
The individual who hired Douglas at La Grange, West Bank Demerara, has been described as being “brown in complexion, slim, and with “high hair on top, but cut low at the sides.”
He was reportedly wearing a ‘red and white’ jersey and a pair of black jeans.
Police have recovered Douglas’ Fielder Wagon Fielder Wagon, with its licence plates missing, in Stone Avenue, Campbellvile.
There is speculation that the killers had planned to sell Douglas’ vehicle, but none of their contacts who specialize in stripping stolen vehicles wanted it after learning of its connection to Lieutenant Douglas’ murder.
Lieutenant Douglas,32, of Bagotville, West Bank Demerara, had worked as a part time taxi driver with Alladin Taxi Service, located at La Grange, West Bank Demerara.

Murdered: Lieutenant Rondel Douglas
Wednesday, June 7, would have been his tenth day on the job.
Douglas was at the base when a “neatly dressed man” arrived and indicated that he wanted to hire Douglas to take him to Cul-de-Sac Street, North Ruimveldt.
Douglas’ vehicle did not have a radio set, so the dispatcher would have only been able to keep track of him by cell phone.
CCTV footage showed that the lieutenant was attacked by a man who was waiting at the end of Cul-de-Sac Street, while the ‘customer’ remained in the car.
Douglas managed to fight off the carjacker and exit the car, but was then shot twice. He collapsed near his car, while the killers drove off with his vehicle.
