Biker gunned down in ‘drug block’

Dead: Patrick Fraser

Twenty year old Patrick Fraser was shot and killed on Thursday night by one of two men who approached him and other friends as they were hanging out in a compound at Bagostown, East Bank Demerara. From all indications, Fraser seemed to have been the target.

 The incident took place sometime after 22:00 hrs Thursday night as the man was out with his friends. According to our police sources they were informed that two men came up to the location and one opened fire on Fraser before they two made good their escape.

It is stated that he was shot in the to the upper torso of his body and after the suspects left, his friends picked him up and rushed him to the Diamond Hospital where he was pronounced dead. BIG Smith Crime Watch was able to confirm that Fraser was the son of a businessman and the grandson of the director of a medical facility.

 Police sources identified the general area the general area where the victim was shot as a known “drug block’ where was raided on several occasions and from where several persons were arrested and detained in the past. 

The area is also one which is used as a safe haven for persons who will commit offences and seek temporary refuge and also hide loot from their unlawful activities.

 The police have not yet released an official statement on the matter and up to early this morning, there have been no arrests in relation to the shooting even as the police were still gathering intelligence.

 Over the last few weeks there have been a number of shooting incidents in Georgetown where young men have turned up dead.
