21-Y-O dies in Coverden motorcycle accident

A 21-year-old motorcyclist died following a collision on the Coverden Public Road, East Bank Demerara, on Wednesday night.
Dead is Christopher Thomas of Yarrowkabra Village, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
The accident occurred at about 9:10 p.m. and involved a motor van and motorcycle.
According to a police report, the motor van was travelling north along the western lane when it reportedly turned right into the entrance of a worksite compound. During the manoeuvre, it collided with Thomas, who was travelling south on the motorcycle with a 24-year-old pillion rider.
Both men were thrown onto the roadway and sustained injuries.
They were taken to the Diamond Regional Hospital, where Thomas died while receiving treatment. The pillion rider remains hospitalized.
A breathalyser test conducted on the motor van driver reportedly returned a reading of 0.07 micrograms, below the prescribed legal limit.
CCTV footage from the area is expected to assist in determining the circumstances surrounding the collision.
