500k bail for construction worker on manslaughter charge

March 6 2026
A 41-year-old construction worker has been charged with manslaughter following the death of 20-year-old Roberto Grant, also known as “Kayan,” after a violent altercation at La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.
Terrence Frank of Lot 86 Samatta Point Grove, East Bank Demerara, was arrested on February 22, 2026, in connection with the incident involving Grant.
Frank appeared at the Wales Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, February 26, 2026, before Magistrate R. Singh, where the manslaughter charge was read to him. He was not required to plead and was granted $500,000 bail. The matter was adjourned to March 10, 2026.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, at a shop in La Parfaite Harmonie.
Reports indicate that an argument between Grant, an unemployed resident of the area, and the construction worker escalated into a physical confrontation during which both men reportedly armed themselves with objects and inflicted injuries on each other.
Both individuals were taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital for treatment. Grant was admitted but later died while receiving medical care.
A broken piece of a glass bottle was recovered at the scene, and investigators had also identified nearby cameras as potential sources of additional information.
