March 9 2026

The Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) has advised customers that maintenance works will be carried out on its L22 Transmission Line today, Monday, March 9, 2026.

According to a press release from the company, the transmission line connects the Canefield Substation and the Number 53 Village Substation in Berbice.

The works are scheduled to take place between 08:00 hrs and 16:00 hrs. GPL stated that no communities are expected to experience prolonged power outages during the period.

However, customers living between Auchylne and Number 76 Village may experience two brief service interruptions of approximately 30 minutes each. These outages will occur prior to the commencement of works and again upon completion to facilitate switching activities.

GPL apologised for any inconvenience caused and noted that the works form part of ongoing efforts to improve the reliability and efficiency of the electricity grid.
