Identical twins give birth together at New Amsterdam Hospital

It’s no secret that twins can share a super special connection and two sisters who hail from Rosignol on the West Bank of Berbice have taken that bond to a new level. The identical twin sisters 20 year- old Amesha Thuesday- Grant and her sister Amela Thuesday both of Jarvis Street, Rosignol were both rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital on Tuesday to delivery their babies.
Both women discovered that they were pregnant two weeks apart in May last year but never thought that they would deliver on the same day as their due dates were different. The two women noted that having their child on the same day was a dream of theirs and to see that become a reality, they are overjoyed given that they delivered two health babies although one was via C-Section and the other was a normal delivery.
Amela Thuesday who delivered a baby boy was excited about giving birth on the same day as her twin sister. She told reporters at her hospital bed that she never heard of twins giving birth on the same day only 30 minutes apart.
“so we were planning to give birth on the same time and same day but my due date was different, she was like next month she was suppose to get baby and I was this month so that’s it and we are excited and happy”

She disclosed her sister was admitted on Saturday while she took in on Tuesday. However while at the hospital her sister who was already admitted to the hospital took in to give birth as well.
Grant who did a C-Section and delivered a girl related that giving birth together with her sister was her wish as they had always talked about having a child and delivering on the same day.
“We are very much happy because this was our wish all the time we always talk about it about getting the pregnant the same time but I didn’t know when she go and she didn’t know when I go, it just happen… but while I was on the surgery table I was praying that we come through safe and we did and I am ok about it.”
The doctor responsible for both deliveries Dr Raphael Rodriquez noted that this is the first time in 20 years since being a gynaecologist that he has experience such a delivery. He says it is possible for the twins to plan their pregnancies.
Big Smith News Watch understands that this is the first time such a delivery has taken place in the country.
