Police detectives are on the ground investigating the disappearance of a number of files and other instruments from an office in the building which houses the Police Service Commission.

BIG Smith News Watch has been informed that at least one flash drive and a number of files relative to the work of the Police Service Commission cannot be accounted for. The police up to press time were not treating the disappearance as a “break in” as they were still trying to ascertain whether there evidence of forced entry.

The Police Service Commission is housed in the Public Service Commission building which is located in Kingston

There has been no promotion of senior police officers as yet for the 2021 as a number of police officer officers have taken the PSC to court and also named Commissioner of Police Nigel Hoppie in court documents.

The ranks are challenging their non-promotion for a number of years while ranks junior to them have been promoted in the past and some are tipped by the PSC for promotion. That initial action was taken to the court by Senior Superintendent Calvin Brutus who was joined by a number of other officers. The officers have vowed to take the matter all the way to the Caribbean Court of Justice if the local courts do not provide a favourable ruling.

At the last hearing, Attorney General Anil Nandlall told the court that he was seeking to find an amicable solution to the matter between the police and the PSC.
