Building Expo 2025: ‘Dream Realised’ Begins with Major Achievements

August 15 2025
Hundreds of Guyanese moved one step closer to homeownership today as the Ministry of Housing and Water advanced the distribution of titles, transports, and building subsidies at the International Building Expo 2025, hosted at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
Minister of Housing and Water Collin Croal and Minister within the Ministry, Susan Rodrigues, spearheaded the distribution exercise, which saw landowners receiving their legal ownership documents. These titles not only secure their property rights but also create opportunities for financial growth, as they can now be used as collateral for loans to improve homes or expand businesses.
As part of the ongoing programme, 300 allottees from the Two Friends Phase I Housing Scheme on the East Coast Demerara signed their Agreements of Sale on Friday. The ministry assured beneficiaries that processing has significantly accelerated in recent years, increasing from a few thousand to over 10,000 certificates of title annually. By the close of Building Expo 2025, more than 2,000 individuals are expected to receive their documents.
In addition to titles, the housing drive also extended financial support to 339 families from Regions Three and Four through the government’s steel and cement subsidy initiative. This programme, introduced in 2022, assists new homeowners with acquiring key building materials to begin construction. More than 540 beneficiaries will access vouchers during the expo.
The initiative continues to play a critical role in advancing homeownership, strengthening communities, and driving economic growth, as families across the country lay the foundation for building safe and secure homes.
