CSEC and CAPE Results Reflect Nationwide Success -EDU Min

August 15 2025
The Ministry of Education has reported that the 2025 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) results reflect not only strong performances from the country’s leading schools but also outstanding achievements across non-traditional institutions.
At the official release ceremony held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre today, Minister of Education Priya Manickchand highlighted that schools such as Zeeburg Secondary, Bygeval Secondary, JC Chandisingh Secondary, and Mackenzie High School recorded pass rates above 85%, a clear demonstration that government investments in education are yielding results nationwide.
This year’s CAPE top performer is Yunyi Zhon, while the top CSEC performer is Jayden Adrian.
One of the most notable improvements came in Mathematics. While the overall CSEC pass rate improved by five percentage points, 67% of schools offering the subject recorded higher results. At least one school improved dramatically, moving from a 16% pass rate to over 80%.
Minister Manickchand credited this progress to the ministry’s targeted intervention programmes, which have been rolled out in schools across all regions. She noted that such widespread gains would not have been possible without these structured efforts.
The minister also pointed to the ongoing expansion of education infrastructure, with more than 42 secondary schools expected to be completed by mid-2026. She emphasised that every new school creates opportunities for children to perform at higher levels, further decentralising academic excellence.
While CSEC performance remained steady at 66.76%, CAPE results reflected a marginal decline, moving from 92.57% in 2024 to 91.9% this year.
Minister Manickchand encouraged students to take advantage of the expanding educational opportunities in Guyana, including free access to the University of Guyana and scholarships under the GOAL programme, noting that these initiatives ensure that young people are equipped to pursue their ambitions.
