MoH Showcases Major Projects, Services, and Free Health Checks at Building Expo 2025

August 15 2025
The Ministry of Health is making a strong impact at the International Building Expo 2025, currently underway at the Providence National Stadium, with an extensive and interactive display aimed at showcasing its work and engaging the public.

One section of the ministry’s booth focuses on infrastructure, highlighting completed, ongoing, and upcoming healthcare projects. Recently completed regional hospitals include facilities at Diamond, Bath, Enmore, and De Kindren. The Lima Regional Hospital and the Number 72 Hospital are scheduled to open soon, while major projects such as the Maternity and Paediatric Hospital at Ogle and the New Amsterdam Hospital are currently under construction. Other ongoing developments include new hospitals in Kato, Lethem, and several other locations.
The ministry’s Health Sciences Division is also present, providing information on a range of training programmes. Visitors can sign up on the spot for courses such as nursing assistant training and auxiliary programmes like Medex training, aimed at building capacity in the healthcare sector.

Another key feature of the display is the distribution of health vouchers, which are also available at the Ministry of Health and health centres nationwide. These include eye testing and spectacle vouchers, cervical screening vouchers, and the universal health voucher.
Visitors to the booth can also benefit from free on-site medical services, including blood pressure and blood sugar testing conducted by doctors.
The ministry is additionally promoting its comprehensive school health screening initiative, which brings health checks, including vision testing and general examinations, directly to students across the country.
