Two foreign nationals killed in pre-dawn Timehri crash

Two foreign nationals were killed and four others injured following a serious pre-dawn collision involving a motor lorry and two minibuses on the Timehri Public Road, East Bank Demerara.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:51 a.m. on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Indonesian nationals Edy Ansyori Sukri and Tedy Arsa Bantara Ikomang, who were passengers in minibus BAF 1135.

The four injured persons have been identified as Suputra Jaya Gede, Mayem Yogi Saputara Anak Agung, Constantin Onica Mihai and Luigi Valente. They were transported for medical attention.

Preliminary reports indicate that motor lorry GAJ 3074 was travelling south at an alleged high rate of speed when its driver reportedly lost control and swerved into the path of oncoming traffic.

The lorry subsequently collided head-on with minibus BAH 6588, which then crashed into BAF 1135. Both minibuses were reportedly travelling towards Georgetown at the time.

The impact caused extensive damage to all three vehicles.

The drivers of the two minibuses and the motor lorry are in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
