Ranks of the Guyana Police Force on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, conducted a targeted operation at the Mango Landing Police Outpost in Regional Division #8, which led to the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis in the possession of a 26-year-old miner from Guyhoc Park, Georgetown, and Plaisance, East Coast Demerara.

According to a police report, during the exercise, several individuals and their belongings were searched. Officers reportedly discovered that a white plastic container carried by the suspect had a false bottom, which, when opened, revealed leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspect was informed of the offence, arrested, and escorted to the Mahdia Police Station, where the narcotics were weighed in his presence. The substance amounted to 215 grams and was lodged as evidence.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
