THE ONE: Deputy head of Special Branch Mahendra Siwnarine who heads the police promotion list moving from the rank of Superintendent to Senior Superintendent

All serving Senior Superintendents of Police were overlooked for promotions to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police in the end of year annual senior officers promotion of the Guyana Police Force, a move that is likely to leave many within the force very uneasy.

Promoted to Senior Superintendent: Julius Wright

In the list which was seen by BIG Smith News Watch and which we have been able to confirm is the list of persons to be promoted, two Superintendents of Police were promoted to the rank of Senior Superintendents, they are Deputy Head of Special Branch Mahendra Siwnarine and Julius Wright who is stationed at the Police Force Criminal Investigation Department.

There are several senior superintendent commanding divisions across the country and in other key positions of the force.

The list has also named woman Superintendent Marcy Washington as an acting Senior Superintendent of Police, Washington is presently heading the Force Finance Office. The list would go on the name other officers who were promoted to the rank of superintendents, Deputy Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents and Inspectors.

The names of a number of junior ranks are also said to be released as those who have been promoted. It should be noted that since July, Commissioner of Police James did promise the junior police ranks their promotions but when he was asked about it recently, he indicated that there were some internal issues which prevented the promotion of junior ranks but assured that the promotions were coming.
