1,500 House Lots to be Allocated in Reg 6 ‘Dream Realised’ Housing Drive

April 25 2025- Hundreds of Berbicians converged at the State House in New Amsterdam, Region Six, as the Ministry of Housing and Water – through the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) – launched a major allocation exercise for 1,500 house lots in the newly developed Providence and Glasgow Housing Schemes on the East Bank of Berbice.
The two-day event, held from April 25 to 26, 2025, is part of the Ministry’s broader drive to reduce the region’s housing application backlog.
The allocation marks a significant step for many families on their journey toward homeownership, fostering greater security, stability, and empowerment in the process.
The opening day saw Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal; Minister within the Ministry, Susan Rodrigues; Permanent Secretary Bishram Kuppen; and Regional Chairman David Armogan overseeing the lot selection process for the first group of allottees.
In addition to the new allocations, individuals who were previously assigned land in areas such as Plantation Mount Sinai, Ordnance Fortlands, Glasgow, Bloomfield, Hampshire, and Williamsburg were invited to uplift their land titles—bringing them even closer to constructing their homes.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to expanding access to housing opportunities across Guyana and accelerating community development in key regions.
