Young professionals in Region Six can look forward to moving into their new homes at Palmyra by Christmas.
This assurance was given by Minister of Housing, Collin Croal, during a visit to the housing development site on Friday.
“All those persons from here — these houses — will be ready for Christmas. When they want to know what they’ll be buying for Christmas, certainly they’ll be able to focus on buying things for their home, because all those persons will be moving into their homes,” Minister Croal stated.

The Palmyra housing development, which caters for 1,000 lots designated solely for home construction, is part of the government’s broader housing agenda.
Minister Croal emphasized that no allocations of lots are being made at this location, as the focus remains on the completion and delivery of modern, ready-built homes.
Currently, 100 three-bedroom homes are under construction, with 20 already completed. The remaining units are between 80 and 90 percent finished.
“So, it means within another month or so all will be finished,” he assured.
Each home, inclusive of the lot, costs $13.5 million. The minister also highlighted that critical infrastructure and utility works are well advanced.
The access road leading to the homes has been completed, while potable water is being supplied from the nearby Sheet Anchor Water Treatment Plant.
Electricity installation is also progressing steadily to ensure full readiness upon completion.
“We’ve already started the allocation. In fact, 50% of these are already allocated…in the new week beneficiaries will be signing their agreement of sale and from there they can move on to the bank to get funding,” the Housing Minister noted.
Minister Croal reiterated the government’s commitment to providing affordable and accessible housing across Guyana, noting that the Palmyra development is part of the administration’s target to construct 40,000 homes during its second term.
