Ex-policeman Paul Slowe was today made to answer sexual assault charges which were brought against him in 2021 and which he has tried to escape from by employing legal manoeuvres which have since failed him.

On Tuesday, Slowe appeared before Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs- Marcus who dismissed submissions by Slowe’s attorney and re-read the charges to him where he was required to plea.

Today he pleaded not guilty to all three counts of sexual assault charges against him.

During the hearings on Tuesday, Senior Police Legal Advisor Mandel Moore appeared on behalf of the prosecution whilst an associate from Hughes, Fields & Stoby appeared on behalf of Slowe.

Slowe’s attorney made submissions to the court, for the sexual assault cases instituted against his client to remain indictable, it is not clear what the end game for such a request was.

However, the state advance for the matters to proceed summarily, which the court ruled in favour for.

Back in 2019, Paule Slowe reportedly committed the sexual assault acts against a female member of the Guyana Police Force.

At the time when the incident occurred, the female policewoman reported the matter to her superiors but those were brushed off.

The officer who the matter was reported to, paid no keen interest in the claims brought against Slowe and it was only after other persons within the force were told of the alleged crime Slowe committed, that an investigation was launch.

According to information provided to the court, Slowe between March and April 2019, the ex-policeman reportedly touched and rubbed the female policewoman inappropriately without her consent.

Slowe will remain out on $225,000 bail, the matter was adjourned until December 21,2023.
