Rondell Bacchus known as “Killa”, who was arrested and released on station bail as investigations continue into the execution-style killing of Ricardo Fagundes,  was on Wednesday charged with damaging a vehicle belonging to the Guyana Police Force.  He was released on $5,000 bail.

Bacchus, 40, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts.

The first charge stated that on April 9, 2021, at the Brickdam Police Station, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged a windshield on a motor vehicle bearing registration number PYY9785, valued $24,561. It was further alleged that he damaged a triangular glass on the said vehicle, valued $32,000.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges and will make his next court appearance on April 21, 2021.

According to reports, on the day in question, when Bacchus was being escorted from the lockups by Police ranks he maliciously damaged the vehicle. Bacchus was released from Police custody last Friday after the 72- hours period for which he could be held expired.

He was being questioned by the Police in relation to the shooting death of Ricardo Fagundes. Fagundes, also known as “Paper Shorts” was shot and killed by two gunmen in front of the popular Main Street, Georgetown nightspot, Palm Court.

On April 6, last, the Police issued a wanted bulletin for Bacchus. A few hours later, the wanted man turned himself in.  After questioning, he was released on $100,000 station bail. He is required to report to the Police station on specified days as the probe into Fagundes’ killing continues.

Bacchus was convicted for the murder of Akbar Alli which occurred in 2008. He was recently released from prison having completed his sentence.
