Regan "Grey Boy" Rodrigues and Courtney Crum-Ewing

45-year-old Regan Rodrigues called “Grey Boy” was on Wednesday acquitted of the March 10, 2015, murder of political activist Courtney Crum-Ewing. Following the close of the prosecution’s case this morning, Rodrigues’ lawyer, Adrian Thompson made a no-case submission.

Trial Judge Sandil Kissoon upheld the no-case submission having described the evidence presented by the prosecution as “deficient” and “tenuous”. In the circumstances, Justice Kissoon directed the jury to return a formal verdict of not guilty. As such, Rodrigues was discharged and informed that he was free to go.

The former murder of Riverview, Ruimveldt, Georgetown who appeared in Court virtually broke down into tears as he thanked the judge and jury.

According to reports, Crum-Ewing, a father of three, was gunned down at Third Avenue, Diamond while urging residents to vote at the May 2015 General and Regional Elections.

Police Headquarters in a statement on the killing had said that Crum-Ewing was accosted by four men, one of whom shot him several times about the body with a .32 pistol.
