Several families in villages in  Pomeroon Supenaam, Region 2 have been relocated due to floods. On Thursday morning, the Civil Defence Commission said this is as the body is supplying flood relief to many affected in that region.

Several communities in several parts of the country have been affected by flooding caused by heavy rains. But in Region Two, some areas remain inundated. Families from Karawab, St Monica, Wakapau and Kabakaburi have been relocated the CDC said as farmlands remain flooded.

On Wednesday, the CDC delivered 1475 cleaning hampers, 18 food hampers for shelterees and 20,000 water purification tablets to flood impacted residents, the CDC said.

“Persons from the villages of Karawab and St. Monica are significantly impacted and as such received cleaning and food hampers,” the CDC explained.
