Commissioner of Police Nigel Hoppie is reassuring the public that the Police would do everything possible to ensure that it work is not hampered by Saturday afternoon’s fire.

“Every time there is a fire, there is always a set back, but we are going to put systems in place to ensure that this does not totally hamper our progress going forward, regarding the issues we have to address,” the Commissioner told this publication on the scene of the fire.

Fire damaged a building used for multiple purposes located in its Eve Leary, Kingston compound. Speaking to his publication Commissioner Hoppie said that the fire destroyed the Office for Professional Responsibility, a section that housed the barracks for officers from police headquarters and one other office.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution which is located in the east section of the building was threatened by the fire. Quick action by the police saw several files and documents being saved.
