2 teens die, 2 critical, others injured as minibus flips

Two persons are dead, two are critical nine others suffered injuries of various measures after a minibus in which they were in toppled along the East Bank Public road at Diamond.

The group had moments before left the Georgetown seawall where they were socialising.

According to what was communicated to this publication, just around 22:00hrs on Sunday, mini-bis BXX 7256 was proceeding south along the carriageway when the driver, 23 year old Kevon Moore lost control and the bus toppled.

After the bus came to stop after flipping, passengers were removed from the wreck by public spirited persons and taken to the Diamond Hospital.

Doctors there pronounced 18 year old Anthony Persaud and 17 Aalyiah Edwards both from Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara dead on arrival.

23, year old Jessie Wishart, 20 year old Joel Wishart, 18 year old Odarry Gonsalves, 18 year old Valencia George and 17 year old Shane Argyle were all treated and sent away.

The others persons were transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and they were further seen and examined by a doctor on duty and admitted patients in the Accident and Emergency Unit.

18 year old Sabrina Corlette, 18 year old Seth Abrams, 17 year old  Edgar Dublin, 17 year old  Johnny Persaud and 16 year old Michael James were all admitted at the GPHC for head and other injuries. Johnny and James are said to be in critical conditions.

A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver and he had 0.039 and 0.037 micrograms of alcohol in his breath, he remains in custody.
