Protest action intensifies outside Watooka House

August 4 2026
Protest action outside Watooka House in Linden continues to grow, with approximately 300 people now gathered as demonstrators intensify calls for action on key regional and national issues.
The We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) and Joint Opposition-led protest is taking place as Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo conducts a Region Ten outreach at the venue.
Protesters are demanding the immediate election of a Regional Chairman and Vice-Chairman, pointing out that Region Ten has been without both positions for almost a year.
They are also renewing calls for the dismissal of Ministers Juan Edghill and Deodat Indar, while demanding that Jagdeo address the crowd before leaving the venue.
The growing demonstration comes amid heightened political tensions following the MV Barima tragedy and continued calls for accountability.
