He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on February 26, 2020, at  Zorg and Johanna Cecila, Essequibo Coast, Region Two, he murdered 35-year-old Arvin Toolsie Mayhilall. Persaud was remanded to prison until June 23, 2021.

On the day in question, at around 18:00 hrs, the now dead man’s relatives received information that he had fallen from a bench in a friend’s yard. When they arrived at the location, they saw him lying on the ground.  He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Mayhilall’s cause of death was given as blunt force trauma to his head and a fractured spine. Following investigations by the Police, Persaud was arrested and charged with the capital offence.
