A man reportedly drowned in the Upper Mazaruni River on Wednesday after the boat in which he was travelling capsized.

A relative told Big Smith News Watch that Carlette Greene called ‘Anthony’ was travelling with four others when the boat started to “take in” water while manoeuvring the river. The boat eventually capsized and according to the relative, Greene suffered from an injury on his leg caused by a previous accident which affects his ability to swim.

Greene was residing at Kamarang and worked as a miner around Sand Landing

While his colleagues were able to swim to shore, Greene has not been found.
