CHIEF MAGISTRATE REFUSES PROSECUTION’S BID TO REVOKE AZRUDDIN MOHAMED’S BAIL

November 2 2026
Chief Magistrate Judy Latchman this morning ruled that past conduct—without an actual conviction or pending conviction—does not constitute sufficient grounds to revoke the bail granted to Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed in his ongoing extradition proceedings.
The ruling came in response to an application submitted by the prosecution, which sought to have Mohamed’s bail revoked following his recent remand to prison on a cybercrime charge.
Refusing the prosecution’s application, Chief Magistrate Latchman ordered that Mohamed’s bail status in the extradition matter remains intact.
The proceedings are set to resume at 1:00 PM today at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
