East Coast Duo Fined $200K Each for Drunk Driving

Two men from the East Coast of Demerara were fined on Thursday after pleading guilty to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

 

Omesh Deodat, 21, of Atlantic Gardens, and Sebastian De Freitas, 35, of Earl’s Court, La Bonne Intention, were arrested on Monday, January 5, 2026, and formally charged on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

 

The men appeared on the same day at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs, where the charges were read to them. Both accused pleaded guilty.

 

They were each fined $200,000 for the offence.
