In a thrilling show of support, the Ministry of Tourism has officially joined forces with the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) for the much-anticipated Fight Night on February 14 at the New Pegasus Suites.

GBBC President Peter Abdool made waves at a press conference, stating, “We wanted to do this setup because we wanted to welcome the Ministry of Tourism on board. It presents a wonderful opportunity for us to be able to highlight Guyana. We have produced seven world champions, and we could be headed to eight… for sure it’s a chance for us to get back where we need to be to start back producing world champions again!”

Highlighting the significance of this collaboration, Kamrul Baksh, Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority, declared, “We are happy to support sporting events across the spectrum. Sport tourism is a major pillar in Guyana’s tourism portfolio, and we want to continue to support the development of these sports. Boxing is crucial, and we want to raise the profile of the events being hosted here in Guyana!”

Adding to the excitement, social media sensation, Bradley ‘Doggie Sampson’ was on hand to promise fans a knockout performance against Mikhail ‘Guyanese Critic’ Rodrigues in their highly anticipated exhibition bout. “I will be there to ‘knockout’ Mikhail in the second round!” he asserted.

The main event is set to be a historic clash as Guyana’s own Elton Dharry takes on Tanzania’s Salmin Kassim in the first-ever male world title fight in Guyana.
