March 2 2026

Investigations are ongoing into an alleged murder that occurred on Sunday night, March 1, 2026, between 19:30 hrs and 19:45 hrs at a shop in Lust-En-Rust, La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.

The victim has been identified as Joel Anthony Tamesar, a 28-year-old construction worker of La Parfaite Harmonie.

Initial reports indicate that Tamesar was at the shop when a 38-year-old man from the same community entered the premises.

An argument reportedly broke out between the two men, during which the suspect allegedly armed himself with a knife and stabbed Tamesar to the left side of his chest before fleeing the area.

Public-spirited citizens rushed the injured man to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he later died while receiving medical treatment.

The body was subsequently taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The suspect was later arrested at Lust-En-Rust after being found hiding in a trench. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
