Appealing to the Court of Appeal in Kingston, Georgetown to set aside his life sentence for manslaughter is 26-year-old rape accused Travis Evans. Back in April 2021, Evans was sentenced to life by Justice Sandil Kissoon before whom he appeared on a manslaughter charge over the unlawful killing of Ronsley Clarke, 21, of Fire Station Road, Timehri.

Based on reports, Clarke, a mason, was at a party on August 2, 2018, at “C” Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, when Evans walked up to him and shot him thrice. Reports are that Clarke and Evans were involved in a disagreement the day before he was killed. The confessed killer only becomes eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 25 years behind bars.

Meanwhile, Evans is also on remand for the murder of Legal Clerk, Gregory ‘Wayne’ Frank. The 46-year-old man was discovered lying face down on August 3, 2018, at his Kuru Kururu, Linden-Soeadyke Highway home. His cause of death was given as asphyxiation due to compression injuries to the neck compounded by blunt trauma to the head.

Back in 2020, Evans was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to a robbery under-arms charge. The charge stated that on October 30, 2010, Evans and two other men, John Sampson and Alex Williams, while armed with a knife, robbed a woman of $650,000 in cash. He presenting awaiting trial for allegedly raping the woman on the said day.
