A 25-year-old man who is accused of fatally stabbing his sister’s boyfriend during an argument over a bicycle was today charged with murder. Martin Blair of 578 ‘D’ Field, Sophia, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Roshell Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Courts.

Blair was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on March 15, 2021, at ‘D’ Field, Sophia, Georgetown, he murdered 23-year-old Daniel Boutrin, a mason of 157 Guyhoc Park, Georgetown. He was remanded to prison until May 28, 2020, for report.

According to reports, on March 13, 2021, Boutrin who shared a relationship with the accused sister was at Blair’s  parents’ home. Blair and Boutrin began to argue over a bicycle that Boutrin had borrowed from Bhim during the latter part of the year 2020 and lost.

The argument escalated, during which Blair armed himself with a knife while Boutrin armed himself with a cutlass. Blair’s parents intervened and the men left the premises.  As Boutrin was about to enter a taxi, he was confronted by Blair who fired several stabs at him.

Boutrin who was stabbed to his left side chest ran a short distance and fell to the ground. He was then picked up and rushed to  Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation,  where he was hospitalized in the ICU and died on March 15, 2021.

The matter was reported and following an investigation, Blair was arrested and charged with the offence.
