Guyana recently played host to the WCO-TENTACLE South America Post-Operational Workshop on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CFT), held from June 16 to 19, 2025, at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre in Liliendaal.

The four-day event brought together top experts from the World Customs Organization (WCO) and regional delegates from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Paraguay. The workshop aimed to strengthen international cooperation and strategies to combat money laundering and terrorism financing across the South American region.

Participants engaged in technical sessions focused on enhancing enforcement capabilities, sharing intelligence, and fostering inter-agency collaboration.

As part of the programme, delegates also visited the Lombard Street Container Scanning Facility in Georgetown to gain firsthand insight into Guyana’s customs inspection infrastructure and procedures.

This regional workshop reflects Guyana’s continued commitment to global efforts aimed at improving financial security and disrupting transnational criminal networks.
