CANE CUTTER DIES DAYS AFTER CHOPPING INCIDENT

A man from the village of Sisters, West Bank Demerara died yesterday after being hospitalized for a chop wound behind his neck while and the suspect were imbibing.

Dead is 29 year old Suraj Jailall an estate worker. According to what was communicated to the BIG Smith Crime Watch by the sister of the man, he was chopped on Saturday and died on Monday afternoon.

The suspect is said to be familiar with the family of the deceased as he, the suspect, has a sister who shares a relationship with the dead man’s sister.

The sister of the deceased who spoke with the BIG Smith Crime Watch said her brother was involved in an argument with the man but that ended.

However shortly after, there was another talking and the suspect left and returned with a cutlass.

He reportedly sneak up behind Jailall chopped him to the back of the neck.

After the chopping incident, the suspect was not picked up by the police. It was only on Monday when the relatives informed the police that the young man died, that the police went to the community and arrest the suspect.

The investigation is underway.
