A young man lost his life early this morning while his friend is warded in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital following a horrific crash on the West Berbice Public Road at Golden Grove.

Dead is 21 year old Lincoln Carmichael of Seafield, West Coast Berbice who was said to be riding shotgun in the vehicle PSS 2472 which was being driven by Shamar Hercules of Bushlot, West Coast Berbice. It was reported to BIG Smith Crime Watch that the two were the only persons in the car at the time of the accident.

The ill-fated car

This news establishment was informed that the two young men were out clubbing and were on their way home at approximately 04:00 on Sunday when Shamar lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a utility pole.

The impact caused residents to jump out of their slumber only to find the men pinned in the vehicle. They pulled the injured out of the mangled vehicle and summoned an ambulance from the Forth Wellington Hospital.

Once the ambulance arrived with the EMT, (emergency Medical Technologists) Carmichael was pronounced dead on the scene while Hercules was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

He was then transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where up to the time of this report he was still listed as critical.

Critical: Shamar Hercules

BIG Smith Crime Watch was unable to have comments from the relatives of the two young men as they were too distraught to speak. However we were told that the car was speeding at the time of the crash.
