1.3kgs cannabis found at Honey Camp Landing

A 31-year-old man is in custody following the discovery of more than 1.3 kilograms of suspected cannabis at Honey Camp Landing in the Middle Mazaruni.
The discovery was made on Tuesday afternoon during an operation in the area.
According to reports, ranks observed a man riding a Honda XR motorcycle with a haversack on his back. Upon noticing the authorities, the rider allegedly diverted into a nearby trail and attempted to flee.
A pursuit ensued, during which the man reportedly abandoned the motorcycle and ran into nearby bushes. He was subsequently apprehended.
The suspect, a heavy-duty machine operator from 1 Mile, Wismar, Linden, was found with a haversack containing six transparent plastic parcels filled with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspected narcotic was transported to the Issano Police Station, where it was weighed in the man’s presence and amounted to 1,317.6 grams.
The substance has since been lodged as evidence, and the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
