Twenty-five-year-old Karim Khayoum, a well-known Regent Street resident and active member of the Muslim community, was on Friday afternoon stabbed to death at the CIOG ground.

He succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving a the Georgetown Public hospital.

Karim was engaged to be married on August 21, 2022. The Big Smith News Watch understands that he spent Friday shopping for his final items in preparation for his wedding next Sunday.

Subsequently, he left to hang out with friends to relax and play a game of cricket as he frequently does.

However, what was an afternoon of fun inclusive of a bit of banter and name-calling, took a deadly turn when Karim was stabbed to his heart by a friend.

The 21-year-old assailant who hails from Mon Repos, ECD, is in police custody at the Albertown police station. It is alleged, he made a full confession.

The assailant is a University student. Karim was a skilled craftsman and designer.
