Bibi Shadick passes on

Former Government Minister and Commissioner at the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Bibi Shadick on Saturday passed away at her home. This was disclosed by the Central Islamic Organisation (CIOG).

“She passed peacefully at her residence at 3 pm this afternoon,” CIOG stated.

In a Facebook post, Minister of Public Works Bishop Juan Edghill noted that “her imprint on the development of our country is evident; ensuring democracy prevailed and that the will of the people was respected.”

In addition, Minister of Education Priya Manickchand said Shadick was a beloved and revered educator known for teaching Mathematics well and changing lives long before she became a Lawyer, Minister and GECOM Commissioner.

“Many of you know her work as a National and public figure and in those roles, she made many notable contributions. I am certain her efforts will live on in the many lives she touched,” Manickhand posited.
