Annandale Secondary Student Dies in Crash Involving Police Corporal

A 15-year-old student of the Annandale Secondary School lost his life early Thursday morning following a tragic accident involving a female Police Corporal on the Success Public Road, East Coast Demerara.

The fatal incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. and involved motor car PAB 214, which was being driven by the Police rank when it struck the student, identified as Navindra Mahes.

He was immediately rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he later succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.

The driver has since been placed under close arrest as investigations continue to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the accident.

In a statement issued Thursday, the Ministry of Home Affairs expressed profound sympathy to the family, friends, and school community of Navindra Mahes.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the matter is addressed with the utmost seriousness, transparency, and in full accordance with established procedures.
