GPF Reports Decline in Serious Crimes and Road Accidents for 2025

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has reported an overall reduction in serious crimes across Regional Divisions One to Ten for the period January 1 to December 31, 2025.
According to updated crime statistics released by the GPF, significant decreases were recorded in several major offence categories, including robbery, burglary, break and enter and larceny, rape, and kidnapping.
The figures reflect continued progress in national crime-reduction efforts.
Overall, serious crimes fell from 1,235 cases in 2024 to 920 cases in 2025, representing a reduction of 25.5 per cent.
Road safety data for the same period also showed improvements.
A total of 124 fatal accidents were recorded in 2025, resulting in 137 road traffic deaths. The statistics further revealed declines in serious, minor, and damage-only accidents, contributing to an overall decrease in total road accidents from 2,405 in 2024 to 2,177 in 2025.
The Guyana Police Force said it remains committed to sustained crime-fighting strategies, strengthened community engagement, and proactive policing as it continues efforts to ensure the safety and security of citizens nationwide.
