Toddler Found Dead in Septic Tank in Lethem

March 28 2025– Authorities are investigating the death of a two-year-old boy, Delvor Ron Forde, whose lifeless body was discovered in a septic tank at his family’s home in Tabatinga, Lethem, Central Rupununi. The incident occurred between 5:00 PM and 5:06 PM on Thursday, March 27.
According to police reports, the toddler resided at Lot 359 Tabatinga with his parents—34-year-old housewife Naomi Forde and 30-year-old construction worker Aaron Bedaysie—along with eight other family members.
The child’s mother recounted that she was in the partially fenced yard washing clothes while Delvor played nearby with his seven-year-old cousin. At one point, the boy approached her requesting a bath, but she asked him to wait. However, just six minutes later, when she called for him, he was unresponsive.
A frantic search ensued, with family members and neighbors joining efforts to locate the missing toddler. Hours later, at approximately 1:20 AM on Friday, a search party member made the grim discovery—Delvor’s body was found inside a septic tank located about 15 feet from where his mother had been washing clothes.
Before police arrived, the child’s body was retrieved by a member of the search team. Upon reaching the scene, authorities observed a 12×12-inch manhole on the septic tank, which the parents stated had been covered with a plywood board.
Officers reported no visible marks of violence on the child’s body. The toddler was transported to the Lethem Regional Hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead on arrival. His body has since been taken to the hospital’s mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to establish the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
