Min Croal demands stronger enforcement against community violations

Housing Minister Collin Croal is calling for stronger enforcement against violations occurring in communities, including new squatting, unauthorised developments and the obstruction of drainage systems.

Croal issued the directive during a meeting with enforcement officers and rangers on Tuesday at the Ministry of Housing’s Boardroom.

He also called for action against persons improperly placing construction materials and other items on roadways, which can obstruct access and create safety hazards.

The Minister stressed the need for enforcement teams to respond promptly to violations and ensure that regulations are consistently applied across communities.

The meeting was attended by Permanent Secretary Bishram Kuppen, Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) Chief Executive Officer Dr Martin Pertab, and Head of the Enforcement and Compliance Department Nigel Hoppie.

The directive forms part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to improve compliance, protect public infrastructure and maintain orderly development within communities.
