CH&PA CEO Inspects Ongoing Works on GPL Access Road Project

ππ¨π―ππ¦πππ« π, ππππ – Works are ongoing on the construction of the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Access Road Project, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at improving community access to electricity across East Coast and East Bank Demerara, Region Four.
Yesterday. Dr. Martin Pertab, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), conducted a site visit to assess work on the project along with Director of Community Development, Mr. Gladwin Charles; Engineers, Mr. Anthony Ragnauth, Mr. Raefer Clifton, Ms. Shenelle Reid and other technical staff.

The CEO, who also engaged contractors, underscored that the timely completion of the project is essential for ensuring communities have adequate access to electricity.
“It’s important that we complete that project so that we can have electricity readily available to provide power to existing and new communities,” said the CEO.
The access road, which will connect South Ruimveldt to the GPL substation at Columbia (Mahaica), is divided into 12 lots. Each lot covers approximately 4 kilometers of carriageway.
The estimated total investment for the entire 12-lot project is approximately $5.58 billion.
Dr. Pertab visited Lot 6 (Enterprise to Victoria), to assess current progress and proactively address any potential challenges that have arisen.
Recognizing that contractors have encountered farmers along the route, the CH&PA will be collaborating closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant agencies. This collaborative effort aims to swiftly and effectively resolve issues and push the project forward.
In addition to the access road project, Dr. Pertab briefly visited the industrial site at Enmore, East Coast Demerara to assess progress.
